USAID AGRO allocates UAH 18.35 mln for modernization of reclamation networks

KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The USAID AGRO program will provide more than UAH 18.35 million for one project to modernize the reclamation systems of water user organizations in Ukraine, the program’s press service reported.

“This is the fourth subgrant from USAID AGRO aimed at resuming irrigation in Ukraine, and the total amount of co-financing is UAH 73.2 million,” the report states.

The donor organization emphasized that the funds will be used to restore or modernize the existing reclamation infrastructure, but not to build a new network.

Co-financing from USAID AGRO will be available to water user organizations that serve at least 200 hectares, the land plots of whose members are registered in the State Land Cadastre, and the rights to them are registered in the state register of rights to real estate.

In addition, information about members of such organizations must be entered into the State Agrarian Register. The water users association should not have any debt to the state water management organization for services received related to water intake for irrigation in previous years.

The funds received can be invested in the modernization of the pumping station, which will be transferred to the ownership of a water user organization from state or municipal property, the purchase/replacement of sprinkler equipment, the arrangement of drip irrigation infrastructure, the introduction of alternative energy sources for the operation of the pumping station and sprinkler equipment, as well as other activities.

The irrigation modernization project will be implemented in the controlled territories of Ukraine, where there are no hostilities and there is a need to restore or optimize the reclamation infrastructure.
