By KYIV. Nov 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The volume of imports to Ukraine in January-October 2023 amounted to $52.17 billion, which is 18.2%, or $8.03 billion more than in the same period a year earlier.
As reported on the website of the State Customs Service, at the same time, the volume of Ukrainian exports fell by 19.1%, or by $7.03 billion, to $29.83 billion.
The deficit in January-October this year reached $22.34 billion, which is 3.1 times more than for the same period last year.
According to the results of the first nine months, as reported by the State Customs Service, exports of goods fell by 18.1% – to $27.1 billion, while imports increased by 18.9% – to $46.6 billion, and the deficit of trade in goods – by 3.2 times, to $19.5 billion.
In January-October 2023, imports from EU countries grew by 23.5%, to $26.71 billion, while exports dropped by 15.8%, to $19.45 billion.
At the same time, imports from the CIS countries in January-October of this year fell by 58.3% compared to the same period last year, to $1.03 billion, while exports from Ukraine to these countries decreased by 36.4%, to $1.33 billion, which made trade with these countries surplus, whereas before the war it had traditionally been deficit.
Finally, imports from other countries in January-October 2023 grew by 34%, to $24.42 billion, while imports fell by 22.4%, to $9.04 billion.
“At the same time, taxable imports totaled $43.4 billion, which is 83% of the total volumes of imported goods. The tax burden per 1 kg of taxable imports in January-October 2023 was $0.49 per kg, which is 44% more than the same period in 2022,” the State Customs Service said.
According to the State Customs Service, the countries from which imported the most goods to Ukraine in January-October 2023: China – $8.4 billion (in January-October 2022 it was $6.6 billion), Poland – $5.5 billion ($4.4 billion) and Germany – $4.1 billion ($3.7 billion).
The most goods from Ukraine were exported to Poland – $4.1 billion ($5.7 billion), Romania – $3.3 billion ($3.0 billion) and Türkiye – $2.0 billion ($2.4 billion).
In the total volume of goods imported in January-October 2023, 65% were machinery, equipment and transport – $16 billion (during customs clearance, UAH 115.2 billion were paid to the budget, or 31% of customs revenues), chemical industry products – $9.3 billion (UAH 63.6 billion, or 17%), fuel and energy products – $8.7 billion (UAH 79.3 billion, or 21%).
Imports of machinery, equipment and transport increased by 30%, chemical industry products – by 17%, while fuel and energy goods decreased by 18%.
The top three most exported goods from Ukraine included: food products – $17.7 billion (a decrease of 4%), metals and products made from them – $3.3 billion (19% less), machinery, equipment and transport – $2.5 billion (30% less).
During customs clearance of exports of goods for which an export duty is established, UAH 500.7 million was paid to the budget, the State Customs Service added.
The State Customs Service also reported that in January-October 2023, customs identified violations of customs rules for UAH 7.6 billion.
