Ukraine cuts raw iron ore exports by more than a third in Jan-Oct

KYIV. Nov 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Mining enterprises of Ukraine in January-October of this year reduced the export of raw iron ore in kind by 36.8% compared to the same period last year, to 14 million 182,198 tonnes.

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service last week, during the specified period, foreign exchange earnings from iron ore exports reached $1.469 billion (a decrease of 46.9%).

Export of iron ore was mainly to Slovakia (29.02% of supplies in monetary terms), the Czech Republic (21.55%) and Poland (20.47%).

In January-October of this year, $118,000 worth of iron ore was imported into Ukraine in a total volume of 168 tonnes. Imports during this period came from Norway (40.17%), the Netherlands (33.33%) and Italy (25.64%). While over the same period in 2022, $42,000 worth of iron ore was imported in a total volume of 74 tonnes.
