KYIV. Nov 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Water management organizations of the State Agency of Melioration, Fisheries and Food Programs in 2023 increased by 6% the supply of water to farmers for irrigation on an area of about 30,000 hectares in Odesa, Zaporizhia and Mykolaiv regions, the agency’s press service reported on Telegram.
According to the report, water was supplied by 120 pumping stations, which supplied more than 100 million cubic meters of water, which is 25% more than a year earlier.
The largest irrigation area was served by the Kilia Department: more than 58 million cubic meters of water were supplied to more than 10,000 hectares of farmland.
“Thanks to the fruitful cooperation of water management organizations and farmers, during the 2023 irrigation campaign, Ukrainians received high-quality agricultural products: tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, peaches, apples, grapes and much more,” the agency stated.
The department noted that at the final stage of the irrigation season, moisture recharging is carried out, which must be carried out to obtain a guaranteed harvest next year.
