Shehyni-Medyka BCP temporarily suspends passage of vehicles into territory of Poland

KYIV. Nov 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing point (BCP) on the Ukrainian-Polish border, the passage of vehicles has been temporarily suspended, the State Border Guard Service reported on Facebook.

“Vehicle crossing operations at the Shehyni BCP have been temporarily suspended. According to information received from the adjacent party, there is no power supply at the Medyka BCP (Republic of Poland). In this regard, the passage of persons and vehicles to exit from Ukraine by the adjacent party temporarily suspended,” the statement said.

Citizens are asked to take this information into account when crossing the border. The resumption of work at the checkpoint will be announced later.

Earlier, the International Transport Association of Ukraine (ITAU) reported that the number of blocked BCPs for trucks on the Ukrainian-Polish border may increase from three to four from November 21: the Medyka-Shehyni border crossing point will be added to the Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korczowa and Rava Ruska-Hrebenne BCPs.

As reported, due to the protest of Polish carriers at the Yahodyn-Dorohusk, Krakovets-Korczowa and Rava-Ruska-Hrebenne checkpoints that began on November 6, queues for entry in front of blocked checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border on the Polish side reach up to 40 km. According to the information announced by the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, 20,000 vehicles have been blocked on the Ukrainian-Polish border, and the flow of trucks through it fell by 20-25%.
