KYIV. Nov 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – National Nuclear Generating Company Energoatom has completed scheduled repairs and connected the last unit of nuclear power plants located in the territory controlled by Ukraine to the power system (ninth), the Ministry of Energy has reported.
“The large-scale repair campaign at nuclear power plants, which lasted several months, was completed before the start of winter and frost. And this is very important, because nuclear generation provides more than 55% of the country’s electricity needs. This is the most sustainable and stable generation, which allowed our power system to withstand the past in winter. And I’m sure it will be so in this heating season,” Minister of Energy Herman Haluschenko said.
The Minister also noted the professional work of power engineers, in particular, nuclear workers, who worked ahead of schedule to carry out repairs in time and do everything necessary to keep the units operating and supplying electricity to the system before the end of the heating season.
