Zelenskyy discusses with Pistorius situation on battlefield, thanks Germany for new package of strong military assistance

KYIV. Nov 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in Kyiv on Tuesday, the head of state thanked Germany for providing a new package of strong military assistance of EUR 1.3 billion.

“I had a meeting with the German Defense Minister. Today he visited not only Kyiv but also regions of our country where he supported our soldiers and all our people. I am grateful for this… We discussed the situation on the battlefield with Mr. Minister Boris Pistorius,” Zelenskyy said in an evening video message.

According to the president, now cooperation between Ukraine and Germany consists, in particular, in the joint production of weapons.

“In everything that will help protect both Ukraine and our entire Europe,” he said.

Zelenskyy also thanked Germany for providing a new package of military assistance and called it “a really very serious package.”

“This is defense support of EUR 1.3 billion. And, among other things, this package includes strengthening our air defense, namely new IRIS-T systems and air defense missiles. Thanks to this, our cities and thousands of lives of our people will be saved from Russian terror. It is very important that this package also contains the artillery we need,” Zelenskyy said.

The head of state once again emphasized that Germany today remains among the leaders in helping Ukrainian defense and maintaining peace throughout Europe.
