KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The international agricultural research company Corteva Agriscience in the third quarter of 2023 increased sales of winter rapeseed by 75% and plant protection products by 49% compared to the same period in 2023, the company’s corporate communications team reported.
According to the report, this significantly exceeds the overall market growth and the increase in demand for winter rapeseed for the 2024 harvest, which market experts estimate at 15%.
“Significant growth is due to the well-coordinated work of the team, focused on comprehensive agronomic support for farmers throughout Ukraine, as well as high demand thanks to existing loyalty programs that give farmers wider access to innovation even in conditions of a full-scale war,” the company said.
Corteva Agriscience recalled that it is a partner of the Howard H. Buffett Foundation initiative, within the framework of which small Ukrainian agricultural producers from the affected areas received additional seeds of Pioneer® brand winter rapeseed hybrids for the autumn sowing.
The company associates the growth in sales of pesticides with the availability of a wide range of plant protection products, which are adaptive to natural and climatic conditions and the needs of farmers.
“For the second year of the full-scale war, we at Corteva have been working with Ukrainian farmers side by side, hand in hand, supporting them in solving the problems and challenges they face in these difficult times. We provide comprehensive agronomic services and offer new solutions, with the help in which farmers get excellent results, and we are proud to be a reliable partner for Ukrainian farmers for the sake of food security,” Oleksandr Dmitriev, business manager of Corteva Agriscience in Ukraine, said.
The company said that in January-September 2023, Corteva Agriscience’s global net seed sales were up 7% compared to January-September 2022, and organic sales were up 9%. By the end of the year, the company expects net sales in the range of $17.0-17.3 billion, operating EBITDA in the range of $2.5-2.7 billion.
