EU's Michel optimistic about chances for more support measures for Ukraine

KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Union is prepared to continue imposing sanctions on Russia and supporting Ukraine in various fields, European Council President Charles Michel said on Friday.

“We support Ukraine, and we’ll support Ukraine for as long as it takes,” Michel said at a joint press conference with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Canada.

Michel said he was optimistic about the EU’s further measures of support for Ukraine. The EU stands ready to make more decisions toward this, including through imposing new sanctions on Russia, he said.

The EU has already provided in aggregate around 83 billion euros in aid for Ukraine in various fields, including financial and military support measures, he said.
