Ukrzaliznytsia buys 30,000 tonnes of diesel fuel from ExxonMobile to replenish its reserves for winter

KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The private oil corporation ExxonMobile delivered 30,000 tonnes of diesel fuel by tanker to the port of Klaipeda in Lithuania, from where it will be transported to Ukrzaliznytsia in Ukraine to provide reserves for a stable winter season, Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Friday.

“Taking into account the available remaining diesel fuel, Ukrzaliznytsia has actually provided the necessary volume for a stable winter season,” Ukrzaliznytsia said.

The contract for the supply of this batch of diesel fuel was signed on November 17, and five days later shipment began at the port of Klaipeda.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia, the price for diesel fuel with delivery, excise tax and customs clearance is quite profitable for the company and will be approximately UAH 52,000 per tonne or UAH 43-44 per liter.

“The final cost will be calculated on Monday – five days from the notification of readiness for shipment according to Platts indices,” Ukrzaliznytsia said.

Thanks to the agreement with ExxonMobile, Ukrzaliznytsia saved UAH 2-3 per 1 liter of diesel fuel, since, according to a consulting agency, its cost in Ukraine in wholesale was UAH 46 per liter, and in retail – UAH 55 per liter.

According to Ukrzaliznytsia’s calculations, by reducing consumption and thanks to direct contracts with manufacturers, the company has already saved about UAH 1 billion on diesel.
