Govt approves concept of modernization program for state-funded, municipal enterprises producing thermal energy

KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the concept of a program for the modernization of state-funded and municipal enterprises producing thermal energy until 2030, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

“Today, we are approving the concept of a program for the modernization of state-owned and municipal enterprises producing thermal energy. This concerns overhaul, one hundred percent commercial metering, increasing efficiency and reliability, creating conditions for attracting investments,” Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Tuesday.

According to him, it is expected that by 2030, 3,000 km of heating networks will be repaired, 35,000 individual heating points will be installed, and heat losses will be reduced to 11%.

As Taras Melnychuk, a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, reported on his Telegram channel, the document determines that the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine is the state customer of the corresponding government target economic program.

According to him, the concept provides for the solution at the national level of such tasks as: development and updating of heat supply schemes for populated areas; ensuring one hundred percent commercial metering of thermal energy; modernization of thermal inputs of consumers; overhaul and reconstruction of centralized heat supply facilities that have expired their standard service life; increasing the efficiency and reliability of district heating systems; reduction of consumption and replacement of natural gas in thermal energy production processes; development of dispatching and implementation of energy management at heat supply enterprises.

In addition, the provisions of the concept provide for state support and stimulation of local governments and heat supply enterprises in solving these problems.
