By KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Next week, the EU mission will go to Kyiv to discuss with the Ukrainian side proposals for security obligations to Ukraine, said the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
Borrell said at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in Brussels that they had made progress in their obligations to ensure the security of Ukraine. The council approved the structure. Today they started discussing this. And next week the Under Secretary General for Security and Defense will travel to Kyiv to share this with their Ukrainian colleagues so that Borrell has the opportunity to present this to the EU Council before the end of the year.
Earlier, Borrell said that in early December, a mission of the European Union would visit Ukraine to discuss proposals for possible guarantees to Kyiv in the field of security.
Borrell said that at the last EU Council, he was tasked by European leaders to develop the European Union’s security commitments to Ukraine. They are working on this with member countries. At the beginning of the month he will send a mission to Ukraine to discuss our proposals with the Ukrainians. If he can go, he would be very happy, but in any case, the Under Secretary General for Security and Defense will go to Ukraine and present proposals that member states are still discussing.
