KYIV. Nov 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The network of system operators of continental Europe ENTSO-E has increased the permitted capacity for importing electricity from Europe to Ukraine and Moldova from 1200 MW to 1700 MW, Board Chairman of NPC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky has said.
According to him, the partners made the decision after studying the safe and stable synchronous operation of the Ukrainian and European power systems.
“And this is a significant contribution to the stability of our power system during cold weather and possible enemy attacks on energy facilities,” the head of Ukrenergo said.
At the same time, on his Facebook on Tuesday, he said that the Ukrainian power system fully meets the ENTSO-E technical requirements.
“I confess that I have been waiting for a long time for the opportunity to say these words publicly: the process of synchronization of the Ukrainian and European power systems completely finished. This was officially confirmed by the system operators of continental Europe at their meeting in Brussels. ENTSO-E recognized that Ukrenergo has completed the key technical measures necessary for constant synchronization of Ukrainian and European power systems,” Kudrytsky wrote.
As he said, today’s decision by ENTSO-E is the best answer to the question about the Soviet technical background of the Ukrainian power system, which supposedly makes it different from the European one. It also forever puts an end to the question of whether our country’s power system meets European energy standards, Kudrytsky added.
“But today is definitely not a point, but rather a significant acceleration in further cooperation between Ukrenergo and ENTSO-E. What lies ahead is the development of a common energy security system and the creation of a single electricity market with Europe” he said.
