Kamet Steel implementing program of overhauls of blast furnace air heaters to save fuel, increase efficiency

KYIV. Nov 30 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Kamet Steel plant of the Metinvest mining and metallurgical group, created at the facilities of the Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant (Kamianske, Dnipropetrovsk region), is carrying out a program of overhauls of air heaters of blast furnaces for stable operation of the main equipment.

According to a press release, the overhaul program for blast furnace air heaters, designed to heat the blast used in the production of pig iron, is nearing completion.

This week, blast furnace workers are putting into operation air heater No. 4 at blast furnace No. 1M after a third-class overhaul.

According to the report, for efficient operation of the workshop, stable operation of air heaters is necessary, which plays an important role in saving fuel and increasing the efficiency of blast furnaces.

“This year we repaired the DP-1M air heaters, which required priority restoration. Now, we have begun the overhaul of VN-5 at the ninth blast furnace, during which we plan to replace the refractory lining of the combustion chamber, hot blast fittings and gas burner. Thus, this overhaul will be the final one under the 2023 program,” Yevhen Podhirny, deputy head of the blast furnace shop for engineering, was quoted by the press service.
