Naftogaz buys 140 mcm of gas from private producers on Ukrainian Energy Exchange in Nov

KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Naftogaz Group bought 139.5 million cubic meters of natural gas from private producers on the Ukrainian Energy Exchange in November, said the head of Naftogaz Oleksiy Chernyshov.

“This (private production) gas has a number of advantages. Firstly, in this way we fill the state budget, because these are taxes. Secondly, we stimulate greater production by supplying domestic companies with the necessary liquidity,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“We are forming reserves and developing Ukrainian production,” Chernyshov added.

As reported, in 2023, Naftogaz entered the exchange auction for the first time on April 26.

In mid-November, Chernyshov reported that the group had bought 700-800 million cubic meters of gas from private producers since the beginning of the year.

At the same time, Naftogaz is ready to buy in 2024 the entire resource offered by private gas production companies if the ban on its export is extended.
