USA widens sanctions against Belarus by adding 11 companies, 7 individuals

WASHINGTON. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The U.S. authorities have imposed sanctions on a number of Belarusian individuals and companies, the U.S. Department of the Treasury said.

Among the seven Belarusians affected by the restrictions are Dmitry Shevtsov, Secretary General of the Belarusian Red Cross, and businessmen Alexander Shakutin, Pavel Topuzidis and Viktor Petrovich.

The new sanctions affect 11 companies, including Concern Bellesbumprom, OJSC MMW named after S.I. Vavilov (the managing company of BelOMO Holding), and RUE Beltamozhservice.

The latest sanctions relate to “anti-democratic actions and human rights abuses” and to Minsk’s support for Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, the Treasury said.
