KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Due to Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, 1,750 facilities of cultural infrastructure have already been damaged, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has reported.
“The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy continues to record damage to facilities of cultural infrastructure in Ukraine due to full-scale Russian aggression… Damage was caused to 1,750 facilities of cultural infrastructure,” the ministry’s press service said in a statement.
Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Luhansk and Zaporizhia regions and the city of Kyiv suffered the greatest losses and damage to cultural infrastructure.
In total, 864 clubs; 613 libraries; 136 art education institutions; 106 museums and galleries; and 31 theaters and philharmonic halls have been damaged.
“It is worth noting that at the end of November 2023, almost the entire territory of Luhansk and substantial parts of the territories of Kherson, Zaporizhia and Donetsk regions are still under temporary occupation. This makes it impossible to calculate the exact number of cultural facilities damaged during the fighting and occupation,” the ministry said.
