Completed construction work volume in Ukraine grows by 42.9% in Jan-Sept – statistics

KYIV. Dec 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The volume of construction work performed in Ukraine in January-September 2023 grew by 42.9% compared to the same period in 2022, to UAH 96 billion, according to data from the State Statistics Service.

According to the statistics agency, in September 2023 the volume of construction work exceeded the figure for September 2022 by 26%, and the previous month by 1.1%.

According to the State Statistics Service, in January-September 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, a reduction in construction volumes was observed in the housing segment – by 4.3%. At the same time, nonresidential and engineering construction recorded an increase in volumes – by 14.1% and 34.4%, respectively.

According to seasonally adjusted data from the service, construction production indices in September 2023 in residential construction reached 47.2%, in nonresidential construction – 78.2%, in engineering – 92.1%, and taking into account the effect of calendar days, the figures are 51%, 90.1% and 113.9% respectively.

The share of new construction in the total volume of completed construction work was 39.5%, renovation – 38.4%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment – 22.1%.

The State Statistics Service said that the publication of the data was delayed due to martial law. Statistical data are given without taking into account temporarily occupied territories and parts of the territories where combat operations are (were) ongoing.
