EU sanctions more than 60 Russians, Belarusians

KYIV. Dec 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Union has extended its sanctions list to include 61 more individuals including Oleg Khorokhordin, head of the Altai Republic, Radiy Khabirov, head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, members of Russia’s Central Elections Commission (CEC), and Ilya Medvedev, son of Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, the Official Journal of the EU said on Monday.

In addition, the list includes Aleksei Shaposhnikov, Moscow City Duma chairman, Boris Obnosov, general director of JSC Tactical Missiles Corporation, Aleksandr Potapov, director of Uralvagonzavod, and Viktor Afzalov, acting commander-in-chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Those affected also include Anna Tsivileva, chair of the Foundation “Defenders of the Fatherland,” 14 CEC members who were involved in organizing Russian elections and referenda in temporarily occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions.

The new sanctions also apply to a number of Belarusian citizens, including Oleg Mishchenko, first deputy chairman of the State Military-Industrial Committee, Alexander Rakhmanov, deputy secretary of state at the Belarusian Security Council, and Pavel Muraveiko, first deputy secretary of state at the Belarusian Security Council.

The European Union has expanded anti-Russian sanctions lists, adding 86 companies and organizations to them, the relevant regulation published in the Official Journal of the European Union said.

In particular, sanctioned entities added to the sanctions lists include JSC Spetsmash, Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, JSC Uraltransmash, Federal State Enterprise Perm Powder Plant, LLC OBORONLOGISTIKA, and LLC Rostekhkomplekt, the Official Journal of the EU says.

Russia’s Spas TV Channel and Tsargrad TV Channel were also placed on the sanctions lists, along with several private military companies, it says.

International Scientific and Educational Society Znanie (Knowledge) is also on the list published in the EU regulation.

Among the new additions are Alfastrakhovanie, financial watchdog Rosfinmonitoring and its director Yury Chikhanchin, JSC Kolomensky Zavod, ODK-Saturn, PJSC VASO, PJSC Tupolev, and a number of information technology and information security companies (Informzaschita, Infotex, Bi.Zone).
