BES suspects Velta of unpaid UAH 27 mln in taxes, while state's confirmed VAT debt totals UAH 50 mln – CEO

KYIV. Oct 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – CEO and co-owner of the Velta company with assets for the extraction of titanium-containing ores in Novomyrhorod (Kirovohrad region) Andriy Brodsky is perplexed about the searches of the company by employees of the Bureau of Economic Security (BES) of Ukraine as part of an investigation into the case of underpayment of UAH 27 million in taxes, while the confirmed debt of the tax authorities to the enterprise for value added tax (VAT) for exported products is UAH 50 million.

The "guests" who visited the mining plant and Velta’s office yesterday were not welcome and made me nervous for several hours. The key point: the reason to visit us, let me remind you, is the unconfirmed non-payment of taxes in the amount of UAH 27 million. To prove this, BES employees took samples of our raw materials in a quarry at the mining plant, and in the office they actually stole technical documents for the design of our planned plant for the manufacture of titanium products using our patented innovative technology!" the top manager wrote on Facebook on Friday.

At the same time, he said that "of course, we have already reported the fact of stealing to law enforcement agencies, but the main thing is not even this – watch your hands: the reason is taxes, the reality is the testing of our titanium raw materials (for what?) and many questions about our technological developments. Is that really what they came for?"

"I would like to note separately that it was a real mask show, because fighters in masks, armor, helmets with machine guns and combat kits came to the office and the enterprise. As a person who has been closely helping the army since 2014, I understand how much does this ammunition cost. But the question is – why? They thought that the Russians were waiting for them here? And even more, these fighters drove out into the street, where it was raining, employees of the office – mostly women work there. And for forcing them to move faster, they began to reload the machine guns, sending cartridges into the chamber!!! There is a war in the country, and such approaches are incredible psychological pressure!" Brodsky said.

He reiterated that the Velta company produces titanium raw materials (ilmenite), which is the basis for the manufacture of titanium – a metal that, in turn, is a strategic material for the manufacture of weapons. Russia has historically used titanium raw materials from Ukraine.

He added that the VSMPO-Avisma corporation, which is part of the Rostec corporation and RosOboronExport, is one of the largest Russian manufacturers of titanium products. It is from it that fighters of the 4th and 5th generations are made (titanium airframe, fuel tanks, armor): Mig-29, Mig-31 (16% titanium), Su-27 (30% titanium), hypersonic guided missiles (titanium hull elements, fuel systems): Kalibr, Zirkon, Kinzhal, Avanguard. All the weapons that kill Ukrainians EVERY DAY.

In turn, a month ago, Velta presented its own innovative technology for the production of metallic titanium in the United States. Thus, the company’s cooperation with the United States increases the pace.

"My goal and the goal of our company is to offer the whole civilized world a new technical solution that will open access to titanium. And this is how we will economically destroy the technical base for the production of Russian weapons! We are not afraid to say this. And it was at this time in our office at the enterprise the "guests" come in search of UAH 27 million of unpaid taxes, while we have VAT confirmed and not returned to Velta by the state for UAH 50 million. And what are these "guests" really doing? They take our titanium raw materials for tests and study our plans to build an innovative plant. What does this have to do with the mythical tax evasion?" the head of the company said.

At the same time, the CEO is convinced that this situation is a matter of national security and the competence of the president – the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine, especially in wartime.

"That is why I will emphasize once again that I am fully prepared to convey all the information to Volodymyr Zelensky. In the meantime, we will continue our fight in the legal field! And, of course, we will not stop about our ambitious plans. This is our war!" .
