KYIV. Nov 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The largest Ukrainian mobile network operator Kyivstar in July-September 2022 increased its hryvnia revenue by 5.2% compared to the same period in 2021, to UAH 7.656 billion, the company said on Thursday.
According to it, for the reporting period, Kyivstar reduced EBITDA by 10.7% compared to the same period last year, to UAH 4.391 billion, and its EBITDA margin fell by 10.2 percentage points (p.p.) to 57.4%.
The company’s capital investments in the third quarter amounted to UAH 1.815 billion, which is 52.5% more than in the same period last year.
The operator’s revenue from mobile services grew by 5.3% to UAH 7.0125 billion, including from data transmission services by 1.7%, to UAH 4.134 billion.
In addition, the operator said that in the third quarter of 2022, the Minutes of Use (MoU) dropped by 6.4% to 557 from 595 in the same period last year. At the same time, the use of mobile Internet in July-September grew by 29.7%, to 9 gigabytes per subscriber, while average revenue per user (ARPU) increased by 11.9%, to UAH 96.
The subscriber base in the third quarter of 2022 narrowed by 7.1% and amounted to 24.4 million subscribers. However, the number of 4G subscribers grew by 4.7% to 12.1 million.
At the same time, the fixed-line subscriber base of Kyivstar (Home Internet) in the third quarter of 2022 fell by 5.2% and amounted to 1.1 million subscribers, ARPU of this segment decreased 5%, to UAH 80.
In total, in January-September 2022, Kyivstar’s capital investments amounted to UAH 3.5 billion: about 400 new 4G communication base stations were built, and more than 6,000 base stations were upgraded to improve the quality and speed of data transmission.
The operator also paid UAH 8.1 billion in taxes and fees for January-September of this year.
Since February 2022, the company has equipped 1,280 bomb shelters in different cities of Ukraine with free Internet, provided 646 modular houses for IDPs with Internet.
During this period, subscribers received from the telecom operator bonuses and free services in the amount of UAH 574 million.
"Our employees work in emergency conditions, overcoming the aftermath of shelling and destruction and daily rolling blackouts. The company uses all resources to resume network operation in liberated settlements, build and modernize base stations," Kyivstar President Oleksandr Komarov said.
