KYIV. Nov 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Agroholding IMC has completed the harvesting of sunflower seeds with an average yield of 3.4 tonnes/ha, with a total harvest of 65,000 tonnes (less by 3% against 2021) from a total area of 19,200 hectares.
According to the website of the agrarian group, the obtained sunflower yield is comparable to last year’s record figures, despite Russian aggression in the northern regions of Ukraine, where IMC cultivates the land.
"Unfavorable weather conditions led to a belated start of both sowing and threshing of sunflower this year. The result was a slight decrease in yield compared to previous years. However, we are very pleased with the harvest. Even on the eve of the spring sowing campaign, part of our land was in the area of active hostilities," director of the company Oleksandr Verzhykhovsky said.
Thus, the yield of IMC-grown sunflower is 64% higher than the average for Ukraine – 3.4 tonnes/ha against 2.19 tonnes/ha.
IMC specializes in the cultivation of cereals, oilseeds and milk production in Ukraine. It processes about 123,300 hectares of land in Poltava, Chernihiv and Sumy regions. It owns storage facilities for 554,000 tonnes of grain and oilseeds.
In 2021, IMC increased its net profit by 2.5 times compared to 2020 – up to $78.71 million, EBITDA – by 53%, up to $110.35 million, revenue – by 12.6%, up to $181.69 million
In 2021, IMC sold 536,100 tonnes of corn, 117,970 tonnes of wheat, and 85,820 tonnes of sunflower.
