EU already allocates over EUR 22 bln to Ukraine, to continue support – Borrell

KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – More than EUR 22 billion have already been allocated to Ukraine through the EU, the European Union will continue to support Ukraine in all possible ways, EU diplomat Josep Borrell said in his blog in a review following the meeting of the G7 foreign ministers held last week in Germany.

"Together with our member states, the EU mobilised over EUR 19 billion for Ukraine’s economic, social and financial resilience, and EUR 3.1 billion in military support. Our help also includes technical support to help repair energy infrastructures and supply of additional power generation. We will also increase our humanitarian support, which has become even more pressing in view of the approaching winter," Borrell said in an article published on Monday.

According to him, "keeping Ukraine’s economy afloat remains key. The EU is to propose a substantial financial package of up to EUR 1.5 billion a month, totalling up to EUR 18 billion, to significantly cover Ukraine’s financing needs for 2023."

Borrell also stressed the need to extend after November 19 an agreement to ensure the export of Ukrainian agricultural products to the world.
