Ukraine reduces export of scrap metal by 92.3% in Jan-Oct

KYIV. Nov 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian enterprises in January-October of this year reduced the export of ferrous metal scrap by 92.3% compared to the same period last year, to 37,774 tonnes.

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service (STS), in monetary terms, the export of scrap metal over this period decreased by 92.6%, to $14.589 million.

At the same time, in January-October, the country reduced the import of scrap metal in kind by 91.3%, to 1,691 tonnes. In monetary terms, the import of scrap decreased 90.7%, to $3.453 million.

In addition, in January-October 2022, Ukrainian steel enterprises did not import products of direct reduction of iron from ore under code 7203 – hot briquetted iron (HBI), which is a substitute for pig iron and scrap metal, but exported 258 tonnes of this product to India (100%) for $48,000.
