ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih reduces production by 65% in nine months

KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) at its coke chemical division in January-September of this year reduced production of metallurgical coke by 64.6% compared to the same period last year – to 786,000 tonnes.

A representative of the company told Interfax-Ukraine that in September the company produced 46,000 tonnes of metallurgical coke.

At the same time, in January-September 2022, the production of 6% moisture gross coke amounted to 905,000 tonnes, including 54,000 tonnes in September.

Coke production for the first nine months of 2021 increased by 15.1% – to 2.221 million tonnes, including 245,000 tonnes in September last year.

For the eight months of 2022, the enterprise was supplied with 263,000 tonnes of domestic coal, 390,000 tonnes from Russia (before the war), 65,000 tonnes from Kazakhstan, 27,000 tonnes from Poland, 15,000 tonnes from the Czech Republic, 208,000 tonnes from the USA and 134,000 tonnes from Australia. In September, 27,000 tonnes of domestic coal were delivered to the plant.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine. It specializes in the production of long products, in particular rebar and wire rod.
