Biosphere Corporation acquires Austrian brand Alufix

KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Biosphere Corporation, Ukraine’s largest manufacturer and distributor of household goods and hygiene products, has acquired the well-known Austrian brand Alufix as part of its international expansion strategy, Andriy Zdesenko, the founder and CEO of Biosphere Corporation, has announced.

"We acquired the Alufix brand a month ago. It is a heritage brand, it is a heritage brand for the entire Austrian market, it is a brand with which more than one generation has grown up, it is a brand that is synonymous with cleanliness, a symbol of home comfort and care. A brand that is more than 58 years old and I am very lucky to have it in my portfolio," he told the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

In an interview in June, Zdesenko told the agency that the corporation aims to increase the share of exports from 20% to 50% within five years, as well as open a duplicate production abroad, and now intends to do it even faster.

In a Forbes article published on Thursday, the CEO of Biosphere specified that, thanks to a loan from a European bank, the corporation is also buying one of Alufix’s foil and food film factories located in Romania, and four sales offices in European countries.

The publication indicates that Biosphere intends to seriously invest in a plant that was on the verge of closing after a pandemic and an unsuccessful business restructuring, transport some of the equipment from Ukraine and triple its output by launching lines for the production of garbage bags, wet wipes and kitchen sponges, as well as produce goods under the Alufix brand at Ukrainian enterprises.

Biosphere Corporation has been operating in Ukraine for 25 years. Its products are represented in the markets of 30 countries in Europe and Asia. The product portfolio includes more than 2,000 items under 13 trademarks: Freken BOK, Smile, Selpak, Vortex, Novita, PRO service, LaiKit, Bambik and others.

The corporation’s capacities are represented by four factories with a total production area of 35,000 square meters in Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv and Khmelnytsky regions, open production in Ternopil, as well as logistics complexes with an area of 30,000 square meters.

Together with the French Groupe Lemoine, Biosphere also owns a factory in Estonia for the production of cotton products with an area of 8,500 square meters.
