Volume of Azerbaijani gas exported to Europe via TAP exceeds 18 bcm – TAP AG

BAKU. Nov 21 (Interfax) – The volume of Azerbaijan’s natural gas exported to Europe via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) since December 31, 2020 has exceeded 18 billion cubic meters, the TAP AG pipeline company reported.

"Since the start of commercial operations, TAP has safely transported over 18 bcm of natural gas to Greece, Bulgaria and Italy," TAP AG said on Twitter on Saturday.

"TAP’s capacity can be doubled in stages to further contribute to Europe’s energy security," it said.

As reported earlier, Azerbaijan exported a total of 19 billion cubic meters of gas in 2021. The first shipments to Europe, i.e. Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria, began on December 31, 2020, and the volume of gas shipped in this direction amounted to 8.2 billion cubic meters in 2021. The volume of such exports in 2022 is expected to reach 22 billion to 23 billion cubic meters, including 11.5 billion cubic meters of gas exported to Europe.
