Ukraine overfulfills plan for collecting excise tax on alcohol by 3.9% for ten months – Hetmantsev

KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukraine in January-October 2022 collected UAH 5.31 billion of excise tax on the sale of alcoholic beverages, which is 3.9% more than planned, while the plan was overfulfilled in the context of a shortfall of more than UAH 800 million in March-April because of the Russian military invasion.

According to the head of the parliamentary committee on finance, taxation and customs policy, Danylo Hetmantsev, the increase in excise duty indicates the first successes in de-shadowing the Ukrainian vodka market.

"The peace plan for the ten months of 2022 was overfulfilled by 3.9%, or by UAH 207 million. The overfulfillment was ensured despite the failure of revenues (by more than UAH 800 million) in the turbulent March and April. From May to October, year-on-year revenues grew by 17%, or UAH 600 million. The plan for this period was overfulfilled by almost a billion hryvnias (more by 29%) despite the loss of territories and part of the sales market," he wrote on Telegram.

According to the head of the committee, in January-October, the State Tax Service canceled 322 licenses, of which 10 for the right to wholesale alcohol, and three for the production of alcoholic beverages in connection with the production and sale of products without paying excise duty.

"I want to turn to legal producers of alcohol. Friends, the state will do everything possible for your development and prosperity. We will do everything possible to support exports. At the same time, paying taxes that go entirely to finance the army is a must have today. We will react very harshly to any evasion and any counterfeit," he said.

In July, he wrote on Telegram that the State Tax Service in June 2022 overfulfilled the plan for collecting excise tax by 14.9% of the expected figures, including the excise tax on alcohol – by 12.3%.
