ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih suspends production due to shelling of energy infrastructure

KYIV. Nov 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) has critically limited electricity consumption and suspended most production processes due to the massive Russian missile attack on critical infrastructure facilities in the country.

According to the company, there is not enough electricity available to keep production even at 20% capacity.

"The plant suspended steelmaking and rolled goods production. Now only coke oven batteries No. 5, 6 remain in operation. Two more coke oven batteries (No. 3,4) and blast furnace No. 6 are in hot conservation mode," the company’s information states.

It is also reported that 106 miners, who remained underground due to the de-energization of the mine, were successfully brought to the surface.

"The enterprise will return to the normal mode of operation as soon as the specialists succeed in restoring the energy infrastructure of Ukraine," the press release states.

ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine. It specializes in the production of long products, in particular rebar and wire rod.

ArcelorMittal owns the largest mining and metallurgical plant in Ukraine, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, and a number of small companies, in particular, PJSC ArcelorMittal Beryslav.
