Alfa-Bank (Ukraine) to be renamed Sens Bank from Dec 1

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Alfa-Bank (Ukraine, Kyiv) will change its legal name to Sense Bank JSC from December 1 in connection with the rejection of the Alfa brand by the board of the financial institution due to the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the press service of the bank reported.

As noted, customers do not need to re-sign documents, renew contracts, order new certificates of the status of the contract from Alfa-Bank and change cards with the Alfa logo. All of the above will continue working.

In addition, the details of the contract will remain unchanged.

Ex-Finance Minister of Bulgaria Simeon Djankov, who in mid-April, under consent of the National Bank, was given the right to vote in the majority stake in Alfa-Bank (Ukraine), previously said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine that the board of the financial institution decided to abandon the Alfa brand and continue to operate under the new brand. The shareholders’ meeting approved the renaming on August12.

"When the board was deciding on a new brand, the decision became obvious. For the last two years, our priority has been the development of the Sense SuperApp digital bank," Alla Komisarenko, chairperson of the bank’s board, said, explaining the choice of a new brand.

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) approved the renaming on September 24, 2022.

The net loss of the bank in January-July 2022 amounted to UAH 3.52 billion. The financial result was affected by deductions to reserves at the level of UAH 8.357 billion.

According to the NBU, by July 1, 2022, Alfa-Bank (Ukraine) ranked seventh (UAH 112.67 billion) among 68 banks operating in the country in terms of total assets.
