Servant of the People may draft bill on compulsory nationalization of misused bomb shelters – Arakhamia

KYIV. Nov 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Servant of the People faction is discussing the issue of enshrining in the legislation compulsory nationalization of misused bomb shelters, according to the head of the faction, David Arakhamia.

"We are now discussing with the members of our faction the issue of submitting and registering a bill on the compulsory nationalization of bomb shelters, the former ones… In order to compensate the owners for the cost of the bomb shelters after the war," he said on air of the national telethon on Tuesday.

According to the parliamentarian, over the past ten to twenty years, local authorities have sold almost all bomb shelters and they are currently used as shopping centers, private premises.

"We will not build new bomb shelters so quickly – we understand everything. And we need to get used to, as in Israel, that we will live in such conditions for a long time. Therefore, we just need to act decisively," he said.
