France starts working on special tribunal for Russia's crimes in Ukraine

KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – France, together with European and Ukrainian partners, has begun work on the creation of a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression in Ukraine, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

"The fight against impunity for crimes committed in Ukraine during the Russian aggression is a priority for France. We have mobilized in support of both the Ukrainian justice system and the International Criminal Court, which are competent to conduct impartial and independent investigations, so that those responsible for these crimes are brought to justice liability," according to the statement said.

"As for the proposal to create a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression in Ukraine, we have begun work with our European and Ukrainian partners. It will be, as emphasized by the President of the European Commission, Ms. von der Leyen, to achieve the broadest possible consensus in the international community," the ministry said.
