Zaporizhstal cuts output of rolled products by 58.5% in Jan-Nov

KYIV. Dec 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In January-November of the current year, Zaporizhstal reduced output of rolled products by 58.5% compared to the same period last year, to 1.247 million tonnes.

According to the company’s information on Thursday, steel production during this period decreased by 60%, to 1.421 million tonnes, and cast iron by 53.1%, to 1.868 million tonnes.

In November of this year, the steel plant produced 143,900 tonnes of cast iron, 85,800 tonnes of steel, and shipped 74,400 tonnes of rolled products, while in the previous month – 157,000 tonnes of cast iron, 121,800 tonnes of steel, and shipped 101,300 tonnes of rolled products.

"The decline in production compared to the same period last year is associated with a shortage of raw materials and logistical problems caused by full-scale hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. In addition, due to ongoing missile attacks on energy infrastructure facilities and, as a result, a shortage of power in the energy system, the plant reduced production, thus reducing consumption of the purchased electricity," the press release explains.

Zaporizhstal is one of the largest industrial enterprises in Ukraine, the products of which are in great demand among consumers in the internal market and in many countries of the world. The plant specializes in high quality hot-rolled steel, hot-rolled sheet, cold-rolled sheet, cold-rolled coil of carbon and low-alloy steels, as well as steel tape, black sheet, and a bent profile.
