By KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Regional Gas Company (RGC) has put into operation the RGC-Metering West metrological center in Ivano-Frankivsk region, the company said in a press release on Friday.
"This is the second center built by RGC in Ukraine. It will produce smart-, turbine and rotary gas meters and carry out verification of household and industrial meters," the document says.
According to the company, RGC-Metering West will become a production site where, for the first time in Ukraine, smart meters developed and designed by RGC will be produced. In particular, more than 16,000 such gas meters will be produced in 2023.
"The opening of the RGC-Metering West metrological center is a landmark event. It shows that the Ukrainian business has not stopped, we reliably keep the gas distribution system in working condition. And even more – during the war we built an innovative enterprise that brings a gas metering process to the European level," RGC COO Oleksiy Tiutiunyk said.
RGC-Metering West is equipped with automated equipment of German-based Inotech Meter Calibration Systems GmbH, as well as U.S.-based Ametek and Hess, and provides a full technological cycle of meter calibration in a fully automated mode, without human intervention.
"All calibration lines are simultaneously equipped with infrared, optical, low-frequency converters and impulse disks. Key processes are controlled remotely and do not require human intervention. This made it possible to speed up processes and eliminate errors associated with the human factor," said the head of the metrological center of the natural gas distribution systems department at RGC, Andriy Lashko.
In total, in 2023, more than 230,000 gas meters, including more than 16,000 smart meters, will be manufactured in the metrological centers built by RGC, and 210,000 household and 2,100 industrial meters will be verified, the company emphasized.
Regional Gas Company unites 20 gas distribution companies under its brand, which serve more than 250,000 km of gas pipelines and more than 8 million gas consumers.
