Flow of gas from EU to Ukraine in Nov reaches 228 mcm

KYIV. Dec 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The supply of natural gas to Ukraine from the EU countries in November 2022 amounted to 228 million cubic meters, which is 27.7% less than in October (315.4 million cubic meters), according to the operational data of the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU).

Gas supply to the customs warehouse mode to UGS facilities in November amounted to 191.1 million cubic meters versus 261.9 million cubic meters in October.

In November, Romania was added to the supply of gas to the GTS of Ukraine from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary with a modest volume of 0.3 million cubic meters. At the same time, already on the morning of December 2, out of the total volume, 8.7 million cubic meters were received from Romania from a total of 18.1 million cubic meters. Romanian volumes bypass the customs warehouse.

According to the ICIS analytical publication, Moldova imports gas from Romania through the Trans-Balkan pipeline. Volumes delivered via the Greece-Bulgaria Interconnector (IGB) were physically delivered north to Moldova via the Trans-Balkan Line via Romania and Ukraine.

Once the volumes enter Moldova through the southern border Caushany point, they can be netted out against the volumes entering Moldova from Ukraine through the border point of Hrebenynky in the north, a regional source told ICIS.

"It took almost six years to unblock the network in the region and start physical deliveries for gas from alternative directions," Serhiy Makogon, ex-head of the GTSOU, said in a commentary to ICIS.
