By KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Enterprises of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine have created a record stock of more than 260,000 cubic meters of fuel wood throughout Ukraine, Head of the agency Yuriy Bolohovets said on Facebook.
According to him, the volumes of logged firewood also stay at record levels and significantly exceed their sales. So, in December it is planned to log another 314,000 cubic meters of firewood.
Bolohovets said that the State Forest Resources Agency supplies firewood to the eastern and southern front-line regions, large volumes of fuel are transferred to the military.
"The situation in the Ukrainian energy sector is very tense. The worst scenarios cannot be ruled out. But the country is provided with firewood. This year, forestry enterprises have made every effort to keep Ukrainians warm," the head of the agency said.
As reported, the government of Ukraine continues logging and selling firewood to Ukrainians – by the end of 2022, forestry enterprises plan to sell 1.1 million cubic meters of firewood within the country. Since the beginning of the year, 2.44 million cubic meters of wood have already been sold, and its stocks in warehouses in the middle of November amounted to about 187,000 thousand cubic meters.
