By KYIV. Dec 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Last week, JSC Mykolaivoblenergo restored power supply to a number of occupied settlements in the region, according to a press release of the company posted on Monday.
"Last week, the brigades of JSC Mykolaivoblenergo, together with colleagues from other electricity distribution system operator resumed the supply of electricity to residents of several settlements of Mykolaiv region – de–occupied and located in the zone of active hostilities," the document says with reference to acting Director General of Mykolaivoblenergo Vadym Danylkiv.
In particular, on December 2, after more than a six-month break, electricity appeared in the deoccupied town of Snihurivka, including at critical infrastructure facilities. Residents of several nearby settlements also received electricity.
"Round the clock during two weeks, despite the bad weather and the viscous soil, the teams of Mykolaivoblenergo, together with colleagues from Lvivoblenergo, Cherkasyoblenergo, Khmelnytskoblenergo and Prykarpattiaoblenergo, were working to restore the destroyed power grids," the company noted.
According to Danylkiv, due to the conduct of active hostilities in the settlements of the region, there is practically no functioning power equipment left – transformer substations are broken, transformer tanks are punctured, transformer oil has leaked; many gantries are knocked to the ground or destroyed by shell fragments, and there is "no living place" on overhead power lines.
"More than half of the wires need to be repaired or replaced. There is not a single whole window left in the administrative building of the company’s branch, special equipment has been disabled, office equipment has been destroyed … The recently renovated modern room now looks more like a barn," commented the head of the company.
According to his preliminary estimates, hundreds of millions of hryvnias will be needed for the complete restoration of the power grids of the deoccupied territories.
As Danylkiv reported, power engineers of Mykolaiv, together with colleagues from other regional power companies also restored a 23-kilometer high-voltage line in just a week, with the help of which the supply of electricity to Kherson was resumed.
