Kyivstar relaunches Home Internet service in Izium

KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyivstar mobile network operator has completed network restoration in the city of Izium, Kharkiv region, and relaunched home Internet service for 5,500 apartments in the city, the company’s press service said on Wednesday.

"Terrorist attacks on the power system of Ukraine deprive subscribers not only of electricity, but also of fixed-line Internet. Therefore, now we are separately focused on restoring the network and on providing our equipment with additional power sources," Head of the Kyivstar fixed-line communications department Serhiy Sukhoruk said.

In addition, from December 1, the company started providing services for the first subscribers in the de-occupied city of Kherson, where before the start of the full-scale invasion, the Home Internet service from Kyivstar was available for 81,000 apartments.

In addition to restoring the damaged infrastructure, Kyivstar is modernizing the network.

"In particular, the Internet at speeds up to 1 Gbps has already become available in 18 cities of Ukraine. The company is also actively implementing social projects and has provided more than 1,400 bomb shelters and shelters across the country with the Internet for free, and also connected 743 modular houses to the Internet, by providing it to internally displaced families," the company added.

Kyivstar is the largest Ukrainian telecommunications operator. It provides communication and data transmission services based on a wide range of mobile and fixed-line technologies, including 3G. Until the end of 2021, about 26.2 million mobile subscribers and about 1.2 million fixed-line Internet customers used its services.

Kyivstar’s shareholder is the international group VEON (formerly VimpelCom Ltd.). The group’s shares are listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange (New York).
