Driver's license in Diia to be valid without plastic analogue – Digital Transformation Ministry

KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers has settled the issue of using an electronic driver’s license through the application Diia, eliminating the need for the driver to have a plastic analogue with him, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reported on Wednesday

"Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has signed resolution No. 1299, which allows using only an electronic driver’s license in the Diia without a plastic analogue," the press release of the ministry says.

It is noted that from the date of entry into force of the decree on December 14, even when issuing a driver’s license, a person can choose whether to make only a digital document or order a plastic card.

"Now that you get a driver’s license, you can give up plastic and use only digital documents, but at any time, order plastic driver’s license and receive them by mail. They will be needed, for example, for driving a car abroad," Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said on the Telegram channel.

The ministry clarified that the Diia document is available in Ukrainian and English versions. At the same time, the license and registration certificate have international coding, which is used in the EU, USA and Canada.
