Govt concerned about two-week delay in acceptance of documents from candidates for NABU director position – Shmyhal

KYIV. Dec 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the government is concerned about a two-week delay in the deadline for accepting documents from candidates for the position of director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU).

"Today, the help of our international partners is urgently needed. We must also take our obligations responsibly, therefore we are closely monitoring the situation that has developed around the competition for the position of NABU head. Recently, the commission for competition for the NABU director position has decided to extend the deadline for accepting documents from persons wishing to take part in the selection by two weeks. The government is concerned about such a delay," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Friday.

The Prime Minister stressed that both the authorities and the public expect the competition to be completed on time.

"The government has provided all the conditions for holding a transparent and fair competition. Now the commission must complete its part of the work as soon as possible. I hope that the government will not have to raise this issue anymore," Shmyhal summed up.
