Ports of Pivdenny, Chornomorsk resume cargo operations after problems with power supply caused by Russian shelling

KYIV. Dec 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The attack of the Russian Federation on energy infrastructure facilities on the night of December 10 caused a blackout of critical infrastructure facilities in Odesa, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) reported on its Facebook page.

"In particular, the ports of Odesa and Pivdenny were not able to carry out cargo operations, the port of Chornomorsk only partially," Oleksiy Vostrikov, head of the SOE USPA, said.

According to him, the power supply is gradually being restored, and alternative power sources are also being used.

He said that the ports Pivdenny and Chornomorsk are already carrying out cargo operations, while Odesa not yet.

"It is hard to predict the situation, because we are dealing with an enemy for whom there are no principles. As for export, the Russian Federation has slowed it down before, creating problems with inspections in the Bosphorus, and the lack of power supply, of course, will slow it down even more," Vostrikov said.
