Rates on hryvnia deposits of individuals in Nov grows by 0.8 pp – NBU

KYIV. Dec 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The average rate of new hryvnia deposits for households, issued in November, amounted to 10% per annum, which is 0.8 percentage points (pp) higher than in October and 4.3 percentage points higher than in May, when the historical minimum of the rate was recorded.

As stated in a report of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on its website, in general, in January-November 2022, the rate on deposits in the national currency rose by 2.9 percentage points.

At the same time, the rate on hryvnia loans to households dropped by 2.7 percentage points in November, to 35.1% per annum, and in January-November 2022 its growth amounted to only 1.4 percentage points.

The rate on foreign currency deposits, which reached a historic low of 0.4% per annum in April, remained at the same level in October – 0.7%, which may be due to deposits for the purchase of foreign currency, the rate for which, as a rule, is close to zero.

As for the corporate sector, the rate on new hryvnia deposits grew by 0.6 percentage points in November, to 9.8%, while for foreign exchange – by 0.1 percentage points, to 1.5% per annum.

The average rate of hryvnia loans issued in November to the corporate sector also increased – by 1 percentage point, to 20.8%, while for foreign currency it fell by 0.6 percentage points, to 5.4%.
