KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Upper House of Parliament (Senate) Italy has approved a resolution on the continuation of military aid supplies to Ukraine during 2023.
According to the Italian La Repubblica, the resolution presented by Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto was supported by 143 senators, 29 voted against, one abstained.
Crosetto said that Ukraine would receive weapons from the country until real peace negotiations begin.
The Senate also supported the resolutions of the opposition Democratic Party and the Action bloc, which also call for support for Ukraine through the supply of weapons. At the same time, the resolution proposed by the left and the greens on stopping supplies to Ukraine was rejected.
According to La Repubblica, chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, confirmed her "full support for Kyiv." The newspaper quotes Meloni’s position: "yes" to new arms supplies, "yes" to sanctions against Russia, "painful for us, but effective."
