Philip Morris opens social spaces with electricity and Internet in Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv

KYIV. Dec 21 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Tobacco manufacturer PJSC Philip Morris Ukraine together with the DTF agency organized five Spheres of Light social spaces with working areas in Kyiv, Odesa and Lviv, equipped with generators and Starlink satellite communication systems.

As the press service of Philip Morris reported on Tuesday, in social spaces one can warm up, recharge devices, work and drink hot tea. They will work until December 30 and are able to simultaneously receive about 100 people each.

"We work for a large international company with offices and shops in many cities of Ukraine. Like all Ukrainians, we seek communication during blackouts, sit in shelters during alarms and worry if we cannot contact relatives. We believe that stable companies can help to survive the blackout together, so we organized autonomous stations with electricity, internet and heat," the company quotes Dmytro Zinchenko, CEO of Philip Morris Sales and Distribution LLC.

According to him, from the first days of launch, social spaces have been very popular among city residents and help out in unexpected situations.

"Employees of different companies during a blackout often make a field office with us. In Odesa, for example, during an emergency shutdown, girls from a nearby nail salon moved into the sphere. And in Kyiv, our space even became a place for a wedding ceremony," Zinchenko added.

Social spaces are located in Kyiv at Lesia Ukrainka Square, 1 (Central Election Commission) and Kontraktova Square (near the Ferris wheel), in Odesa in the Enthusiasts Park (66/2V, Akademika Zabolotnoho Street) and in Luch Square (95A, Levitana Street), and in Lviv at 24, Vynnychenko Street (Powder Tower).

Philip Morris International, which includes PJSC Philip Morris Ukraine, is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of tobacco products. It has been working in Ukraine for more than 20 years, owns a factory in Kharkiv region. About 1,300 people worked at the company’s enterprises before the Russian armed invasion.
