Volume of completed construction works in Ukraine drops by 52.4% in Jan-June – statistics

KYIV. Dec 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The volume of construction work performed in Ukraine in January-June 2022 decreased 52.4% compared to the same period in 2021, to UAH 36 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.

According to the statistical agency, in June 2022, the volume of construction work amounted to only 22.2% of the figure for June 2021. At the same time, in June compared with May of this year, the indicator grew by 18.5%.

According to the State Statistics Service, in the first half of 2022 compared with January-June 2021, a decrease in the volume of construction work was recorded in all construction segments. Thus, the volume of construction works in residential construction fell by 52.4%, to UAH 7.6 billion (37.3%), in nonresidential construction halved, to UAH 9.9 billion (39.5%), in the engineering structures segment it fell by 54.6%, to UAH 18.3 billion (36.6%).

The share of new construction in the total volume of completed construction works amounted to 43.8%, repairs – 27.4%, reconstruction and technical re-equipment – 28.8%.

The State Statistics Service said that the publication of data was delayed due to martial law. Statistical data are given without taking into account the temporarily occupied Crimea and the temporarily occupied territories in Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
