Ukraine reduces export of scrap metal by 92.3% in Jan-Nov

KYIV. Dec 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – In January-November of this year, Ukrainian enterprises reduced the export of ferrous scrap by 92.3% compared to the same period last year, to 41,980 tonnes.

According to statistics released by the State Customs Service, in monetary terms, the export of scrap metal over this period decreased by 92.6%, to $15.845 million.

At the same time, in the first 11 months of the year, the country reduced the import of scrap metal in kind by 92%, to 1,691 tonnes. In monetary terms, the import of scrap dropped 91.6%, to $3.453 million.

In addition, in January-November 2022, Ukrainian steel enterprises did not import products of direct reduction of iron from ore under code 7203 – hot briquetted iron (HBI), which is a substitute for pig iron and scrap metal, but exported 258 tonnes of this product to India (100%) for $48,000.
