Agrarian Ministry approves 77 grants of UAH 371 mln for development of horticulture, greenhouses

KYIV. Dec 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has so far issued 77 orders (plus 20 per month) to provide grants to agricultural producers for laying orchards and building greenhouses totaling UAH 371 million (more by UAH 96 million).

According to the agency’s website, the amount of grants for farmers varies from UAH 140,000 to UAH 10 million per recipient, and the total area of future plantations and greenhouses is 1,080 hectares, of which 1,070 hectares will be used for laying gardens, and 12.35 hectares for the construction of greenhouses.

The ministry also clarified that 70 grants totaling UAH 322 million will be directed to laying gardens, and seven grants totaling UAH 49 million will be issued to build greenhouses.

Such support for farmers will create 211 permanent jobs in greenhouses and 385 in the horticulture industry, and thanks to the programs, an additional 8,830 seasonal jobs will appear.

According to the agency, at present, 20 enterprises participating in the program have already received a total of UAH 27.1 million on their accounts.

The top three among the regions participating in the program in terms of planting area and areas for the construction of greenhouses included Zakarpattia, Lviv and Kyiv regions, in terms of the amount of grants – Zakarpattia, Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions. It is clarified that the unchanging championship both in terms of area and in terms of grants remains with Zakarpattia: 215.5 hectares and UAH 74 million, respectively.

As reported, grants for the development of greenhouses allow agricultural entrepreneurs to attract up to UAH 7 million in funding, and up to UAH 10 million for planting orchards. In general, the state will allocate more than UAH 16 billion to finance such projects.
