Turkey receives 16% of grain exported from Ukraine – Erdogan

KYIV. Dec 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Turkey’s mediator role between Russia and Ukraine helped to make a deal on safe transportation of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea, the EU countries received about 44% of grain exported from Ukraine, Turkey – 16% and African countries – 14%.

According to a report by the Anadolu news agency, President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this during an event with youth in the eastern Erzurum province.

Erdogan said his country will make flour from Russian grain to be sent together with Russia and the UN to African countries in need.

As reported, 15.5 million tonnes of grain has been exported from Ukrainian ports to 38 countries of the world within the framework of the Black Sea Grain Initiative from the beginning of August until the end of December 2022. Border guards have checked around 600 vessels participating in the Grain Initiative heading from three Ukrainian ports during this time.

On July 22, in Istanbul, representatives of the UN, Ukraine, Turkey and Russia signed two documents on the creation of a corridor for the transportation of grain from three Ukrainian ports for 120 days. Later, the term of the agreements was extended for another 120 days from November 19, 2022.
