Yaroslavsky's DMZ produces coke, rolling mills operate on tolling raw materials, metal production is idle – CEO

KYIV. Dec 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – PJSC Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant (DMZ, formerly Evraz-DMZ), which is part of DCH Steel of the DCH group of businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky, currently produces coke, rolling mills operate on orders from raw materials supplied by the as a metallurgical redistribution is still idle.

Vitaliy Bash, CEO of DCH Steel of DCH Group, said in a New Year’s address to employees published in the DCH Steel corporate newspaper that coke chemists were able to arrange the supply, production and marketing of coal in extremely difficult conditions and continue working continuously to support the enterprise. At the same time, the blast-furnace and oxygen-converter production facilities could not be put into operation at the metallurgical site due to the impossibility of acquiring the required volumes of raw materials.

At the same time, after the prompt implementation of a number of technological projects, rolling shops were put into operation, fulfilling orders for the hire of tolling billets. "We hope that fruitful cooperation will continue in 2023," the head of the company expressed hope.

Bash added that the miners of the Sukha Balka mine in a protracted fight overcome the obstacles created by the Russian occupiers. At the same time, the use of flexible work shift schedules makes it possible to fulfill production tasks and ensure the planned economic performance of the enterprise.

"The establishment of a limited consumption of energy forced the suspension of production at the Frunze mine to maintain capacity and not put the lives of our workers at risk. Such restrictions are temporary. We hope that in the spring technological and production processes in all divisions of the mine will be resumed in a peaceful and free country," the head of the company said.

DMZ specializes in the production of steel, cast iron, rolled products and products from them. On March 1, 2018, the DCH Group signed an agreement on the purchase of the Dniprovsky Metallurgical Plant from Evraz.

The Sukha Balka mine is one of the leading enterprises in the mining industry in Ukraine. It extracts iron ore underground.

DCH Group acquired the mine from Evraz Group in May 2017.
