Revenues from tourist tax decrease by 13% for nine months of 2022 – Tourism Agency

KYIV. Dec 29 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Revenues from the tourist tax in January-September 2022 decreased by 13% compared to the same period in 2021, said the head of the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine, Maryana Oleskiv.

"In the first half of 2022, the tourist tax collection showed an increase of 29% due to the internal migration of Ukrainians from the occupied and front-line territories to safer western regions. When people began to return, the numbers began to fall rapidly. For the nine months of 2022, we have minus 13%," Oleskiv wrote on Facebook.

According to her, the fall was recorded in 11 regions of Ukraine. Basically, these are areas that were or are in the war zone and temporarily occupied. In particular, in Kherson region, the amount of tourist fees decreased by 93%, Mykolaiv – by 84%, Donetsk – by 74%, Luhansk – by 73%.

In addition, a significant decline occurred in Odesa (69%), Zaporizhia (68%), Sumy (55%), Kharkiv (48%), Kyiv (37%) and Zhytomyr (20%) regions.

"Kyiv this year is one of the leaders in tourist tax collection as it replenished its budget by UAH 25.874 million. However, compared to the same period in 2021, this amount is almost half as much," she noted.

According to her, together with Kyiv, there are four more regions among the leaders in paying tourist fees. So, in Lviv region, the amount of tourist tax increased by 126%, Ivano-Frankivsk – by 92%, Zakarpattia – by 88%, Dnipropetrovsk – by 17%.

As reported, the total number of taxpayers in the tourism sector for the nine months of 2022 decreased by 28%.
